Terms of Service

These terms cover everything we make — the public website, the cloud service, and the device software (together, "the Service"). By using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use them.

1. What these terms cover

• This public website — product info, downloads, documentation, and these legal pages.
• The Tanso TV cloud service at app.tanso.tv — requires a user account.
• The Tanso TV device software — the local server app you install on your own computer to watch and record over-the-air TV ("the Device").

2. Device software license

We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Device on computers you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. The Device is licensed, not sold — we keep all ownership and intellectual property rights.

3. Cloud accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account, and you're responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done under your account.
• Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
• [Eligibility requirement, e.g. "You must be at least 13 years old to create an account."]
• One person per account — don't share your login.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Device, except where applicable law gives you a right to do so that can't be waived by contract;
• Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the Device, or bundle it with other software for distribution, without our written permission;
• Remove or alter any copyright or proprietary notices;
• Abuse the cloud service — no scraping at unreasonable rates, no attempts to disrupt it, no using it to break the law;
• Use any part of the Service to infringe anyone's rights — including recording or redistributing broadcasts in ways your local law doesn't allow. You're responsible for complying with the copyright laws where you live.

5. Pricing: free core features, paid plans for extras

Live TV viewing and recording with one compatible tuner per Tanso TV Device will remain free for as long as Tanso TV is maintained and supported. Hardware-accelerated recording is included at no additional cost where supported. Additional features — such as scheduled recording and remote access — may require a paid plan in the future; we'll publish the features, pricing, billing, and cancellation terms before anything becomes paid.

Voluntary donations (e.g. via PayPal) are contributions, not purchases: they don't entitle you to features, support, or refunds, and they're non-refundable.

6. Updates

We may release updates to the Device and the cloud service that add, change, or remove features. The Device doesn't auto-update; installing new versions is your choice. The cloud service is updated by us automatically.

7. Third-party hardware and data

The Device works with third-party TV tuner hardware (such as the MyGica®/Geniatech® A681/A681B). We're not responsible for that hardware, its drivers, or its availability.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep the cloud service running smoothly, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Scheduled maintenance and unexpected outages happen; we'll communicate about significant ones in the cloud service itself.

9. No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don't promise it will be error-free, that recordings will never fail, that the cloud service will never go down, or that the Device will work with every tuner.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOST RECORDINGS OR LOST DATA — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US.

11. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time: uninstall the Device, delete your cloud account [describe how — VERIFY], and you're done. We may suspend or terminate cloud accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service. Termination doesn't affect the license restrictions in section 4, which survive.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date will change, and we'll note material changes in the cloud service for account holders. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
